Camp Nanowrimo is here, and that means it's time to start writing again.
I picked up my sequel today and began mapping out where I wanted the second half of my trilogy to go. This after taking some time off from writing for some much needed "me time."
I took some time off to play video games, which I've loved since I was six years old. Some people love TV shows, but I love video games more than I love TV. I just finished Mass Effect Andromeda. It was awesome. And the new Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which I thoroughly enjoyed even though I disappeared for a week to play it all the way through.
In the effort to publish my first book, I have neglected my health. I'm only 5'9" and I was about to hit 200 pounds for the first time in my life (which is about 30 pounds over what I should be, given my body type). I didn't want that to happen, so I made a change. My boyfriend and I explored a few lifestyle changes (or diets as they're better known) that we wanted to try, and we decided to start weight watchers together. I'm happy to report it's going very well, and I never did hit the dreaded 200 pound mark either :) hopefully I will stay far away from that number and get down to my ideal weight in another couple of months.
The second thing was making time for friends and family. It's really important. We all know it is, but sometimes we get off track and put work first. While it was great for my life goals, it wasn't so great for my mental health. My schedule is hard enough for planning as it is, being as my friends often get weekends off, and I get two weekdays instead. Add in a full time job and a passion I want to be my job one day, and it's a tight schedule some days. Getting eight hours of sleep a night can be hard. Some nights I try to convince myself that 5-6 hours of sleep is enough. It's not. I've been better at realizing that too.
Just plugging away and trying to find the right balance in life. All we can do is our best. Here's hoping for a finished first draft of the sequel sometime in the next month or two!
